Awkwafina was an American actor and musician who made her name with clever raps that tackled gender and ethnic identities from a an edgy, comical perspective. Then she branched out into Hollywood. Nora Lum is the daughter of Chinese as well as Korean parents who hail from Forest Hills Queens. The trumpet was Nora's first instrument. Following her Jazz and classical training, she delved into hip-hop when she was an teen. While in school, she concentrated on journalism and woman's studies. She studied Mandarin during a time in Beijing. She didn't start focusing on music until the time she graduated. The My Vag song, My Vag which was her response to Mickey Avalons My Dick, became a huge hit across the Internet and eventually appeared on her debut LP Yellow Ranger. The album featured other viral hits like the body-positive Queef as well as the cheeky hometown tour NYC Bitche$. The latter track connected directly with another Awkwafina project NYC A travel guide that was released in the year 2015. She opted to pursue acting as a profession after having completed her two previous endeavors, author and musician. In addition to early shows such as Girl Code and Tawk she was also featured in movies such as Neighbors 2 Storks as well as Bad Rap. In 2018, she landed a number of notable roles that were a breakthrough, like Dude Ocean's 8, or Crazy Rich Asians. The EP was released in June.
